BACK BE GONE

Many times there is an image you want to use but part of the image needs to "disappear" or become transparent.

Sometimes the background needs to go and sometimes it's an interior part of the image.

For this exercise I'll use the latter.

Here's my image ::§

  1. Select your image and enter it at IM

  2. Click on your image; a gold arrow will appear.

Put the point of the arrow on the upper left corner of the bottom right window, and click.

now look under your image and you'll see the coordinates you just clicked.....+192+312. Write them down.

NOTE:: Your numbers may differ by one or two pixels from mine...not a problem.....continue

  3. Click on your image again

Put the point of the arrow on the lower right corner of the bottom right window, and click.

now look under your image and you'll see the coordinates you just clicked.....+328+444.

  4. Click on draw

  5. Click the dropdown and choose "rectangle".

  6. Erase what's in the box and put +192+312 +328+444 in there.

  7. Enter fill color and stroke color "blue".

  8. Click "Draw"....Your image should look like this::§

  9. Now let's do the top left window.

  10. Click on your image again

Put the point of the arrow on the upper right side of the curtain and the top of the window and click.

now look under your image and you'll see the coordinates .....+124+33.

  11. Click on your image again

Put the point of the arrow on the bottom right corner of that window and click.

now look under your image and you'll see the coordinates .....+158+161.

  12. Click on draw

  13. Click the dropdown and choose "rectangle".

  14. Erase what's in the box and put +124+33 +158+161 in there.

  15. Enter fill color and stroke color "blue".

  16. Click "Draw"....You'll have a blue rectangle in that window.

  17. Click on your image again

Put the point of the arrow on the lower left side of the blue rectangle you just made.

now look under your image and you'll see the coordinates .....+124+161.

  18. Click on your image again

Put the point of the arrow on the bottom right side of the curtain and the bottom of the window and click.

now look under your image and you'll see the coordinates .....+72+161.

  19. Click on draw

  20. Click the dropdown and choose "polygon".

  21. Erase what's in the box and put +124+33 +124+161 +72+161 in there.

NOTE:: The first coordinates are the top right side of the curtain you clicked earlier.

  22. Enter fill color and stroke color "red".

  23. Click "Draw"....You'll have a red triangle in that window.

Your image should look like this::§

NOTE::Red was used for the triangle purely to show the shapes to the reader; in reality it would also be blue.

After you've covered all the areas you want to eliminate with the same color, then matte that color. Sometimes your shapes will have to be small to fit in a space, but you can use lines of various widths and lengths for small spaces too.

Here's what the finished window looks like...§

Here's what you can do with it...§

NOTE:: When doing this for the background of the image, first crop the image down so you don't have as much space to cover.
